Short bio - Bill Gilliss

The first decade of my professional education and career immersed me in photography and theater, the next two in architecture and interior design. These two main threads have converged over the past fifteen years in my current work as an architectural illustrator. I create scenes using architectural CAD modeling and rendering tools, photography, and various digital illustration methods to reveal clients’ projects in convincing still images, animated sequences, and complete video productions combining these plus live action and sound.

Early experience investigating and teaching computer-aided design at the Yale School of Architecture in the first years of personal computing has led to a life-long interest in the field and all it can do. In my current teaching in the interior design program at the University of Louisville, I share CAD experience and rendering skills with a new generation of designers. Other current interests include careful photographic documentation and measured drawings of historical structures.

While most of the work shown on this site was modeled and rendered in Revit or AutoCAD, we can work from any combination of 2D and 3D CAD files in any format, existing blueprints, photographs, and rough sketches -- whatever you have. Note: the images on this site are shown at reduced resolution to improve Internet connection times. Much higher-resolution versions are available upon request.
